Moisture effects on monitoring GFRP-balsa sandwich structure by acoustic emission and infrared thermography
Résumé
In this work, moisture effects on strength/stiffness degradation of GFRP-balsa sandwich structures are studied with the help of active AE and IRT techniques. AE pencil lead breaking tests were conducted before 4-point bending tests to investigate the relationships between Moisture Content (MC) and AE wave propagation properties, including AE wave velocity and amplitude attenuation. Active IRT tests using the halogen lamp as the external heat source were also conducted to study moisture effects on the thermal field variation of the sandwich.
